The HR Function

The HR Function

The human resource function of a company is often seen as only a compliance facilitator or a staffing resource. The role of HR has subsided. I’m not sure why. But it is an unfortunate mistake and it results in a wasted resource.

Over time, competitors will hire generally equivalent talent. The difference between them, in this case, resides in what they do with that talent. This is, or should be, a primary function of the human resources department. Culture, policies, resources and solace are all within the purview of a fully functioning human resources department.

At its best, HR is an enabler of organizational performance, a master of enterprise efficiency, a provider of strategic insight. Human resources brings a perspective to the executive suite that rounds out and fulfills the company’s vision. It can create and sustain the competitive advantage that comes from the integration and leveraging of the human resource that only HR can provide.

Does your company take full advantage of its human resources department. If not, why not?
